Ahhh, Yoga...I love Yoga. Let me rewind...About two weeks ago, I got this "wild hair" and decided that I wanted to re-introduce myself to this place I call, the gym. Well, the last two weeks have been pretty successful, at least I think so. I have gone at least three times each week. I don't do my "normal" (normal, as in 7-8 months ago, normal) weights and cardio and classes, but just 40-50 minutes of stair-master, treadmill or eliptical trainer. I say "just", but it seems to be working for me. I am not exhausted or fatigued after I work out, but I feel good, which is most important. Well, today I decided to hop off the machines and take a yoga class, which "they" say is really good for pregnant women. However, I do have heed the warning of multiple sources that tell me that after the 1st trimester, not to do any type of abdominal exercise, or any exercise, for that matter, while lying on my back. Again, "they" say not to because with all the organs and things in there that just kind of fall back when on your back, it makes it difficult for the little one to get oxygen. So, taking that into account, I grunted and pushed my way through the stretching (which I OBVIOUSLY need to do more of) and found myself thoroughly enjoying the class. If I could only find a way to reach my toes, I would be set, but I am honestly about a foot away from them, no matter how much I suck in my gut....Depressing, but I guess I have to start OVER somewhere. I am going to find a PREGNANT yoga/pilates class or video that takes into account the large mass of flesh between my chest and my thighs, while trying unsuccessfully to touch my toes, of which I am quickly loosing sight of. Ahhh, pregnancy is beautiful.....:)
