2002-12-03 . 3:27 p.m. . I'm going to start charging the doctor for time spent waiting!

What is it about doctor's offices that they feel they have the right to give you an appointment time, tell you to get there 15 minutes early and then make you wait for a day and a half before they come running in saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'll be right with you..." then leave. Then, 13 minutes later when you're about to leave, they rush in saying, "I'm sorry I kept you waiting, we got into this HUGE discussion and I didn't realize it took so long." Well lady, get yourself a freakin' watch!!!! I was so irritated, but then she used what I think of as a defense mecanism and put the little microphone up to my belly and there it was......the calm in the storm.....the peace in the night....my baby boy's heartbeat. Mind you, it doesn't sound like a heartbeat, but rather a dishwasher, but that is the sound I have come to know and love as our little boy. I can't wait to put a face to the sound. Well, her dirty little trick worked and in no time I was chit chatting, being completely forgiving of the valuable time I had just "wasted", only to realize that every second of it was SO worth it!!! She could tell I was one of those when she walked in, puddy in her hands....I just know they have us all figured out....Anyway, the little mini appointment told me that our baby, as of last week, was 489 grams, about 8.4 inches from crown to "rump" and due between the 31st of March and the 4th of April. She said all was totally normal and wonderfully perfect!! She said I should start feeling movement, HA! START?!?!? Little Luke has made himself known, that's for sure!!! You won't hear me complain about no movement from down under anymore!! It is the most amazing thing I have ever felt in my whole life!!!

The doctor gave me a little paper with info on it about changes in me, varicose veins (AUGH!), stretch marks, heart burn, you name it. The paper says, and I quote, "There is absolutely nothing available, such as lotions, oils or creams that will prevent stretch marks." Well, that sucks!! They say it is completely genetic, if your mom got 'em, you'll get 'em. Well,I don't care what they say, I'm going with cocoa butter, it says it works, what will it hurt to try. I guess I just won't be surprised if it does happen.

Well, that's the news from me, hope all is well out there! Talk to you soon!
