2002-12-02 . 9:49 a.m. . IT'S A .........?!?!?

Wow....it's December already!! I can't believe it!! It has been about a week since I last wrote and HOLY COW have things happened!! Thanksgiving was awesome. Joe and I went down to Georgia to spend the 4 day weekend with our good friends Tina and Steve. You see, Steve and Tina are a product of your's truly!! That's right, I set them up. Steve was Joe's roommate at West Point and Tina was a girl I met while I was nannying in CT. She came to CT to nanny too and I met her at church and I knew it then and there that she was the girl for Steve. So, we went on a double and 7 months later, they were married!! They are doing so great and it was so fun to see them. They are moving to Germany in July, so I'm not sure how many more times we will see them before they leave. (They say they are coming when the baby gets here, but we'll see if that happens.) Anyway, I got way ahead of myself. So, Thanksgiving was Thursday, but some exciting stuff happened on Tues. After Geology on Tues., I picked up Joe at school and we were off to the hospital for an ultrasound. This could be the big one!! We were going for a routine ultrasound to check my innerds and the baby's, but we had been told that if you suck up, they might hint at the gender of the baby. So, we went hoping we would get a cool person who would fill us in. So anyway, when you actually go in to get the appt., they give you this paper with this big schpeel (sp?) about how you need to have a super full bladder and within like 1 hour of the ultrasound you should have 4 glasses of water and then 15 min. before, drink a bunch more. Well, I am a psycho water drinker as it is, so by about 2:00, I had drank like 96 fluid ounces of water and let me tell you I was practically in tears, BUT it was so worth it!! The ultrasound lady actually said, "Wow, this is a great ultrasound!" I had so much water in me I thought I was going to burst, but it was so good because we were able to see "things" so clearly!!!

So, She started looking around and I asked, "So, do you see any distinguishing features?" See, there is actually a big sign on the wall that says, "WE CANNOT TELL YOU THE GENDER OF YOUR BABY BLAH BLAH BLAH" I guess the reason for this is because people actually get mad when they are wrong!! OH MY GOSH, ruin it for the rest of us why don't you!! Anyway, she just kind of laughed and was like, "well, I'm not really supposed to tell you, but I'll try and show you and you can guess." So, she zeroed in on the "area" and I couldn't see anything distinguishing since I can't read these things any better than I can braille, but it was blatantly obvious to my husband that there was definitely some "family jewels" there! She moved it again and it became blatantly obvious to me too!! There were little mini boy parts!! Joe said, "It looks like a boy," and the nurse nodded her head like, "Oh, yeah, that's definitely a boy in there!!" So, WE'RE HAVING A BOY!!!!!! I started crying, of course; Joe couldn't wipe the grin off his face. It was the best feeling in the world!! We knew it was just what we were supposed to get! We were giddy for the rest of the day and the following day!! I couldn't stop smiling and I was telling strangers in my classes and on the street!! I was finding any excuse to bring up the fact that I was pregnant, since PEOPLE STILL CAN'T TELL!! Augh, I thought I was getting somewhere, but no, it doesn't look like I'm going to ever get very big!!! Oh, but the greatest thing happened the other day. Wednesday, I was sitting in music class and we had this special musical group play which consisted of a fluitist and a guitarist and they played for us at the end of class. Well, either our little boy LOVED it and was shoving his head against my stomach to hear it better or he hated it and that was his bum I felt as he hid his head in back. What ever it was, it was my little boy. I stood up after the song was over and the left side of my stomach was huge, hard and oh so round...about the size of a bum or head. :) It was the sweetest thing to feel, knowing that was my little boy in there!!! Ahhhhh.....I am LOVING life!! I called my parents right after class and was going on and on about how I didn't understand why women didn't get pregnant more often, it was the most amazing thing in the world, laa la laaaa la laa..... I was floating!!! It still makes me giddy to think about it!! I'm disgusting, I know...but OH SO HAPPY!!!!

So, we have a name, we came up with Luke Joseph J* about a month and a half ago and we can't seem to shake it! It just feels so right....BUT, there's a problem. Well, it's not a problem to anyone else but me. Here's the deal and tell me your opinion. I mentioned before one of my good friends is pregnant too, she is due a couple weeks after me, this is her second child....that is the problem, her first child's name is Luke, he is a little over a year old now. See, the problem is, our parents not only live in the same town, but a few streets from each other, they have been good friends since they were in high school, they go to the same church (for those who understand, the same ward). I actually asked her if we could use the name and she said it was fine, but I don't know, is it wierd? Tell me what you think. (If my family is reading this or anyone else who doesn't understand, the way you write to me is by clicking on "notes" at the top of this page). Anyway, let me know. Well, I have been blabbering for about 20 minutes and it is finals week, how stupid am I?! So, I best be off, but I wanted to fill ya'll in!! Talk to you soon!
